Chokecherry - Prunus virginiana

Chokecherry has a rapid growth rate with a mature height of 12-25 feet and is short-lived. It prefers moderately well- to well-drained soil with lots of moisture although it can moderately tolerate drought. It can grow in shade but will produce fruit best in full sun. Long clusters of white flowers bloom in early spring and red to dark purple fruit ripens in late summer.
