Asclepias tuberosa. Butterfly Milkweed, also known as Butterfly Weed, prefers dry to mesic soil, with full to partial sun. This plant grows to a medium height and has a unique orange summer bloom. Butterfly Milkweed is another essential host plant for monarch caterpillars. In addition to Monarch Butterflies, Butterfly Milkweed attracts a wide variety of other pollinators because of its unique orange bloom. Butterfly Milkweed would pair well with Little Bluestem and Purple Prairie clover.
