Elymus virginicus. This cool-season early successional species grows between 2 – 5 ft in height.  It grows in mesic to wet mesic soils and prefers full sun to partial shade conditions.  It is a quick establishing native grass, making it a good choice for erosion control, bank stabilization, or perennial cover crop.
