Green Ash - Fraxinus pennsylvanica

Seedling Height: 12-24 in

Softly pyramidal when young, developing an upright-spreading habit at maturity with 3-5 main branches. Bright green foliage on both surfaces, sometimes paler below. Clear yellow fall color, with early leaf drop. Adapted to a wide variety of soil textures. Drought and wind tolerant. Can withstand flooding for short periods of time. Seeds are eaten by birds and mammals. Provides cover and nesting sites for birds. Root system is shallow, fibrous, and wide spread.
