A superior cottonless cottonwood introduced by South Dakota State University. Pyramidal, very fast growing shade tree. develops an irregular vase shape. Average growth rate of 3' per year. Rust resistant and seedless. Provides cover and protection for wildlife. Buds are a source of food for birds. Root system is wide and shallow, equal or greater than the height of the tree. Widely adaptable to soils. Prefers moist situations along waterways but tolerates dry soils. Tolerates alkaline conditions and pollutants. Can be used for windbreaks.
