Tamarack - Larix laricinia

Tamarack has a rapid growth rate with a mature height of 40-60 feet and a pyramidal shape. It is mostly found in swamps but will tolerate well-drained upland sites and a variety of soil types. It is intolerant of shade and drought. Tamarack is the only conifer that loses its leaves in the fall, when needles turn yellow and drop.
